Viking T6 World's Fastest Lawnmower

When Honda set the record for world’s fastest lawnmower back in 2014 with its 109 HP, 187 km/h Mean Mower. That red streak was something super fun and really special, but we took some heat for publishing a story that didn’t have much of a “green” angle. Well, kids, that record has fallen to a specially constructed Viking T6 packing nearly four-hundred percent more power than the previous record-holder … and it’s painted bright GREEN.

For all the extra power this Viking T6 mower is packing, it didn’t totally obliterate the Honda’s 187 km speed record, though. The Viking’s V8, in this trim and in the frankly terrible weather conditions, only managed 215 km/h (about 135 MPH).

Viking’s test driver was quoted as saying something like “I can’t believe we set the record in this rain and fog. I want to thank everyone for putting up with this crazy idea,” after the record-setting run. While that’s German translated to Spanish translated to English, I’m sure the feeling is there.

You can tell me all the different reasons that articles about barn-storming lawnmowers shouldn’t be on a “green” car site in the comments section, below, and use this form to complain to Gas 2’s owners. Enjoy!
