Later in the day we realized that many of you will have to also purchase an electric scooter for your kid(s) if you purchase one for yourself. Fear not, we have you covered. Here are the five best electric scooters for kids that you can buy today. 1. Razor E300 Electric Scooter – $254.69 The hits just keep on coming from Razor. We here at enrg.io are big fans of all-electric transport. While our focus is electric cars, we also like to give a nod to smaller electric modes of transportation. As such, here is a list of the five best electric scooter for adults that allow the rider to sit while operating the vehicle. Enjoy! 5. Czech it Out: Classic Čezeta Reborn as an Electric Scooter!

The world of electric vehicles is getting bigger and bigger each day. As an EV enthusiast, that’s pretty exciting– only I’m not exactly an EV enthusiast. Or, maybe a better way of putting that is to say, “I’m not only an EV enthusiast.” I’m interested in almost all mechanical things, and I’m especially excited about weird mechanical things that were/are built in small volumes by clever people with an absolutely bonkers aesthetic. As all those things and (I like to think) more, I love the new Čezeta electric scooter. If you look at this bike and it seems a bit like an old, Cold War-era, communist government moped– well, that just means you’re paying attention. “The Čezeta started life in 1957 at the height of the space age,&#...

Summer Fun! Electric Mopeds are here and will soon be Available for Rent using your Existing Bird App

A recent development on the streets of Washington D.C. has been the emergence of the electric scooter as a means for both students and workers to get from point A to point B. Once a novelty that would turn heads around our capital city, electric scooters are near ubiquitous and can be rented cheaply using an app on the user’s smartphone. While I will admit that I have been annoyed on occasion by scooter riders that travel too fast on sidewalks around our fair city, I also admit that I think the technology is really cool and the scooters look like a lot of fun to ride. It was recently revealed that Bird, one of the major players in the app-enabled electric scooter game will be adding electric mopeds to its repertoire as early as this summer. Unlike its predecessors, Bird’s newes...

The 11 Best Fuel Efficient Motorcycles You Can Buy in 2019

It’s getting dark pretty early, these days– and the air is getting colder. For many, it’s time to put their bikes up for the season. For others, further south, it’s finally cool enough to start putting serious miles on them again. For nearly all motorcyclists, however, the winter is special for another reason: the new bikes are out! With new bikes come new lists. As such, it’s time for Gas 2 to once again put together our annual list of the Best Fuel Efficient Motorcycles you can buy. This list, like the others, is divided into categories, and the “winner” is selected for wildly arbitrary reasons based impressions gathered in 20+ years of riding experience as much as it is for its “green” cred. So, check out our choices, below, then tel...

Go Fish! Honda Cross Cub Kai-Ruamaga is Ready for Action

My love for the Honda Cross Cub 110 has been well documented, both in these pages and elsewhere. Even so, I find myself loving this special-edition Cross Cub that debuted earlier this year at the 2019 Japan Fishing Show in Yokohama even more. Both useful and adorable, the Honda Cross Cub Kai-Ruamaga fishing special has been upgraded with knobby, go-anywhere tires, fishing-friendly racks and boxes, and rugged engine and frame guards to keep it running after it inevitably slips on wet rocks and gravel. It also gets some extra off-road capability from repositioning the exhaust from running under the bike to a scrambler-style high pipe. This leaves the underside free of vulnerable break-y bits for more “spirited” off-road running. I’d love to see Honda offer some of these acc...

Italiawesome: Vespa Sprint Desert Racer

Every once in a while, a vehicle crosses your path that defies description, classification, and– in rare, special cases– common sense. The bike you see here is such a vehicle. Meet the Vespa Desert Racer, and get ready to do a bit of head scratching, because this is a bike that absolutely, positively, should not exist. That’s not to say this bike isn’t awesome. It’s just that the world is not ready for this level of awesome. Consider the kind of energy that the people behind this build– a speed shop called Supacustom based in Melbourne, Australia– built this 2016 Vespa Sprint to be just as capable off-road (above), as it would be on a high-speed run across the salt flats of Lake Gairdner during Speed Week (below). Consider that, then think of how m...

Gogoro Shows Off Battery Swap Partners

Taiwanese electric scooter startup Gogoro has a sharp design, smart engineering, and massive capital behind it. Now, it’s taking its über-clever, battery swapping electric scooters to the big time by partnering with DHL and Taiwan Post to supply the two shipping giants with Gogoro 2 utility scooters. That’s not an order for a few dozen electric scooters. That’s, more likely, an order for a few hundred electric scooters over the long haul. Enough scooters, in other words, to ensure that Gogoro has a future, regardless of consumer/commercial acceptance. But wait, there’s more!! PGO will also be adding big numbers to Gogoro’s order books over the next few years, as well. They’ve signed on to use Gogoro’s EV batteries in their future electric scoots, b...

Electric Vespa Gets Real: Production Set to Begin

The electric Vespa first broke cover at the 2016 EICMA show, with plans to begin production in 2018. Well, it’s 2018, and Vespa’s parent company, Piaggio, has been true to its word. Meet the new-for-2019 Vespa Elettrica, set to begin production next month! Pricing hasn’t been specified, but remember that this is the same company that decided on a $15,000+ out-the-door price for a special edition Armani version of its flagship scooter. Which is to say: it’ll be pricey. Other than that, it should be more than quick enough to win a few stoplight drag races and have enough range for its target, urban audience. Check out the official press release, below, for more details, then let us know what you think of this slick electric scooter in the comments section at the botto...

Piaggio Launches Alt-fuel Ape for India

They’re small, cramped, loud, stinky, smoky, and weird. They’ve probably caused as much black lung as a Kentucky coal mine, too, if we’re being honest. Nevertheless, my love for the Piaggio Ape trikes seems to grow stronger every day that I’m not allowed to buy one. It’s hard to justify that kind of irrational love for something, but Piaggio is making it a little bit easier by launching new CNG and LPG versions of its venerable little three-wheeler. “The emphasis on alternate fuel technology is growing every day in (India). And hence, we introduced an improved range of alternate fuel vehicles to cater to the markets needs,” said DiegoGraffi, managing director and CEO of Piaggio vehicles. “The customer initiatives and improved range of alterna...

You’ll Meet the Nicest People on the 2019 Honda SuperCub

You meet the nicest people on a Honda. It was one of the most famous ad campaigns of the 20th Century, and established a way forward for a motorcycle company that wasn’t Harley-Davidson– and didn’t want to be, either. It focused on the Honda Cub and SuperCub, and was one of the reasons that bike became the best-selling vehicle of all time. And now, as a motorcycle industry that spent the last twenty years building itself around bad reality TV and fake biker gangs flounders, Honda is hoping to bring back some of its old time magic. Meet the all-new 2019 Honda SuperCub. Part of the new miniMOTO Honda collection that includes the popular Grom and unspeakably awesome 2019 Monkey, the new Honda Super Cub has the same accessible, step-through style as the classic Cub, with fres...
