If you’re like me, you’re broke. Should being poor doom us to suffer the indignities of walking everywhere just because we can’t afford an expensive electric bike? Absolutely not!

We have scoured the Internet dear readers for seven electric bikes (e-bikes) you can order on Amazon today for under $1,000.

7. Ecotric Fat Tire – $912.00

The Ecotric Fat Tire features 20′ tires that can handle any type of terrain. Its design is decent and it can achieve speeds of around 20 mph. It should be noted however, that the Fat Tire is not a traditional mountain bike. According to the company, the Fat Tire, “Has a certain climbing ability, but the slope should not be too long and steep, it is recommended to ride on flat roads or paved mountain roads.” Ecotric’s offering is a strong one.

6. Merax Aluminum Electric Mountain Bike – $689.99

Merax has hit a home run with this sleek mountain e-bike. The impressive motor on the Merax is powered by a 36V battery and is capable of reaching speeds up to 20 mph. Don’t forget your helmet and pads…

The Ancheer Power Plus is a stylish mountain bike that comes with a 250W motor and can reach speeds of up to 15 mph.  With a 30 mile range on a single charge, the Ancheer won’t leave you stranded. A bit wide in the waistband? This bike has a maximum weight capacity of 330 lbs, making it capable of accommodating riders of (most) any size.

This e-bike from Cyclamatic is attractive, affordable, and even safe to ride in the rain! Its padded seat and high quality tires will ensure that you get where you are going in style. While the company claims assembly is easy, it also recommends that you splurge and have it done professionally.

What are the odds that the coolest bike on the list would also be the most expensive? Funny how most of life seems that way. At any rate, the Roadster Ghost will take you right back to the 1930s when the Roadster first debuted. How awesome is this thing?

The rail system in my city recently relaxed restrictions on bikes being allowed on the train. This development has lead to several altercations, with commuters arguing about precious space. Fortunately, SwagCycle has introduced this fantastic folding bike that won’t leave your fellow commuters hating you. It even has a USB port so you can charge your phone on the go!

1. Nakto Beach Cruiser – $648.99 

Having grown up in California, it was almost obligatory that I owned a beach cruiser. I bought mine for $50 from a used bike store and rode it until the wheels fell off. This e-bike from Nakto is an update on the classic that is absolutely stunning. It’s 48-volt 12A battery allows riders to reach speeds of up to 30 mph and it’s iron and aluminum frame is built to last.
