We brought you a list of the 7 best all-electric bicycles (e-bikes) under $1,000 here, and a list of the 5 best e-bikes under $500 here. Unfortunately for penny-pinchers such as myself, none of the e-bikes featured on today’s list would land on either of those lists. All wheel drive (AWD) e-bikes add front wheel drive to the already present real wheel drive found on most e-bikes, making them ideal for off-roading and beach riding.
So break out your checkbooks and prepare to spend more on an e-bike than I spent on my first car, here are the 5 best AWD E-bikes!
The Big Bud Pro from Evo features 350W rear motor and a 250W front motor. This bike also comes with a high-quality LCD display and four different riding settings that the rider can change depending on terrain. Maybe this can be my birthday AND Christmas present for the next 30 years…
Our first selection from the Philadelphia-based Christini Technologies is the Fat-E 4, and it is a beautiful machine! With a frame made out of high-quality aluminum and extra-fat tires, this AWD e-bike is sure to perform well in any condition. Check out the cool video embedded in the link above for a demonstration on how this e-bike works.
I really like the look of the Best 648. It has kind of a cool 1930s vibe going on but with extra-fat tires. At just under $1,600, the Best 648 is the most affordable AWD e-bike on our list. The bike gets decent reviews, but I would like to see it in a head-to-head match up with one of the more expensive competitors to see how it truly stacks up.
The Snow 29 Pro was the first AWD e-bikes produced by Spanish company BH bikes. While BH no longer manufactures this bike, you may be able to find a good deal on a used model at a reasonable price. The “29” in the 29 Pro refers to the resilient 29 inch alloy frame. The bike features stainless steel spokes and a handy display panel for you techies out there. Definitely worth scooping one up if you can find it.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you…the Cadillac, Rolls Royce, and Bentley of AWD e-bikes all rolled into one: the Christini Fat E-5 Ultra!! Seriously, how cool is this thing? For the low low price of the equivalent of three used Toyota Camrys, you could be the proud owner of this beauty. The Fat E-5 Ultra comes standard with a 1500w torque sensing motor and a 52V battery from Panasonic. If you are serious about off-roading and have tons of cash to spare, the Fat-E Ultra is the bike for you!
What do our readers think about this list of awesome all wheel drive e-bikes? Are there any others out there that you feel should have made the list? Would you be willing to spend $1,600 to almost $6,000 for an AWD e-bike? Please leave us a comment below and let us know.
