equus-automotive-bass-770-004-1The 21st century has seen the rise of restomods cars, which take classic designs and stuff them full of modern technology. Then there’s the Equus Bass 770, which is arguably the zenith of the restomod movement; it’s an aluminum and carbon fiber, 640 horsepower monster combining three classic muscle car designs into one.

Based on the design classic Ford Mustang fastback but utilizing styling elements from both the original Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro, the Equus Bass 770 is the result of six years of development and testing. Under the hood is the Corvette ZR1’s supercharged 6.2 liter V8 good for an estimated 640 horsepower, the 770 has a rear-mounted six-speed twin-disc clutch manual transmission for better weight balance.

Speaking of weight, extensive use of an aluminum and carbon fiber in the chassis kept the weight down to just 3,640 pounds, despite all of the 770’s luxury and safety features. Unlike every other restomod on the road, the 770 has airbags, leather interior, air conditioning, GPS, cruise control, tire pressure monitoring, and a badass sound system, among other things. It may look old school, but everything on the inside is 21st century awsomesauce.

The Equus Bass 770 lays claim to a 200 mph top speed and a 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, as well as an asking price of $253,000. Far from affordable, but incredibly sexy, and recycling timeless designs that are beloved by all. Now all they need to sell is a stripped-down, bare-bones model that does away with all the fluff, and leaves us with a 3,100 pound supercar.

Maybe they could shave some money off of the price too.
