The BMW 740Le “Active Hybrid” model is expected to get an update later this year that will see horsepower jump to 390 (up from 322). That extra HP will come courtesy of a new electric motor and updated battery pack that should, also increase driving range from 14 miles to something like 18 miles (30 km).
All of that is just rumor and heresay, at this point. What isn’t a rumor is that, with the current G11/G12 7 Series, BMW aimed to set a new benchmark in the segment. BMW had banked on the car’s lightweight design, driving dynamics, and luxury features giving it an edge over the S class and Tesla Model S that it, well, just hasn’t had.
Maybe the refreshed BMW 740Le, expected to launch later this year as a 2019 model wearing a 745Le badge, will have better luck against the Teslas and Porches and Volvo Polestars of the world. Until then, watch this
