All-new 2019 Volvo V40 Hatch Targets VW Golf

All-new 2019 Volvo V40 Hatch Targets VW Golf

If the buzz around these pictures is accurate, you’re looking at an all-new premium compact set to compete against the upscale VW Golf, Audi A3, BMW 1 series, and Mercedes-Benz CLA class. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the 2019 Volvo V40.

According to AutoExpress, the UK magazine that first acquired these shots, the V40 will follow the upcoming XC40 as the second of the Swedish brand’s new cars to be launched using the all-new “CMA” platform architecture. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg for the CMA chassis, as both the Geely/Volvo joint venture brand, Lynk & Co., and newly acquired Lotus Cars are expected to follow suit with CMA platform cars making their debuts before the end of 2018, as well.

The new V40 is expected to be available in late 2018 as a 2019 model, with the T5 plug-in hybrid and pure electric versions of the new car coming online at the same time. And, if the continuity of Volvo interior design that’s present in the XC90, V90, and S90 models holds true for the XC40 and V40 models holds, you can expect the V40’s interior to look pretty similar to the included XC40 photos, below. Check those out, then let us know what you think of Volvo’s new “premium” hot hatch contender in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
