Designed to disturb just a tiny fraction of the air around it, the Acabion DaVinci was designed to be the world’s most aerodynamic car. Its maker, Peter Acabion, believes his concept has what it takes to be a new-age super car in the spirit of the Volkswagen XL-1 and LaFerrari Hybrid – but even those slippery road missiles produce nearly 10x the aerodynamic drag of the Acabion DaVinci concept, which Peter is hoping he’ll be able to get sufficient funding to build next year.
Before we go any further, I should point out that the DaVinci is almost certainly vaporware. Even if it worked exactly as planned and the car delivered on Acabion’s claimed 400+ MPH top speed and 1200 MPG fuel efficiency target, the orca-inspired styling of the car, the lack of industry knowledge, and the company’s amateur-hour website are conspiring against it.
Still, you gotta love the guy for trying- and Acabion’s wind tunnel models (compared to a relatively slippery Tesla Model S electric car, above) certainly work in his favor.
