6 New EVs Coming in 2020

2020 is going to be a wild ride. Between the election here in the United States that literally no one is looking forward to and my 40th birthday both looming large, 2020 could be a year of great stress and depression. But fear not, dear readers! If you feel yourself drifting into despair (either over politics or me getting older), take a look at this list of six awesome all-electric vehicles (EVs) coming to a showroom near you that are sure to cheer you up.

1. Mini Electric

BMW’s Mini line will debut it’s first all electric coupe sometime next year. While the company hasn’t released too many specifics, the car will share technology with BMW’s i3 and may reach up to 200 miles on a single charge.

2. Porsche Taycan

My friend Jo wrote about the team at Porsche who logged over 2,000 miles in an all-electric Taycan in under 24 hours here. The Taycan is rumored to be able to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds and have up to 300 miles of range on a single charge! It really is too bad I can’t afford it…

3. Mercedes – Benz EQC

The first all-electric offering from the Bavarian behemoth is here and it is spectacular. The EQC will come with standard features such as all-wheel drive and several driver-assist systems. The body design is sleek and clean, exactly what you would expect from Mercedes.

4. Tesla Model Y

Tesla’s Model Y is going to be a smaller and more affordable version of the company’s Model X SUV. With seating for seven adults and a price tag of just $39,000 for the standard edition, the Model Y is sure to be a bestseller. Get on the waiting list today people!!!

5. Rivian R1T

We briefly touched on Rivian and their ambitious goal of putting a 400 mile range vehicle on the road here. The plan is to release their cars with three battery sizes: 105kW, 135kW, or 180kW which translates to a range of 230 miles, 300 miles, and over 400 miles of range. It will be interesting to see if their niche line of luxury pickup trucks and SUVs will be able to compete with the other posh big-boys like Tesla and Mercedes.

6. Tesla Roadster

I mentioned to a reader who was kind enough to write to us yesterday that I would happily sell a kidney for a Model X. While that offer still stands, I would also like to further state that I am willing to sell both of my kidneys for the new Tesla Roadster. The once discontinued sports car will be roaring back to life in near-silent EV fashion in 2020. Tesla claims that the Roadster will go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in under 2 seconds and be able to travel over 600 miles on a single charge!

Can one of my rich friends please buy one and just let me sit in it at the very least?
